Workplace Health Management (WHM) There are four key components to workplace health management:

Occupational health and safety
Promoting workplace health
Social and lifestyle determinants of health
Environmental health management
The policies of the past were often guided by the rule of law. In the new approach to health management in the workplace, policy development is driven by both the legal requirements and the health goals established on a voluntary basis by the working population within each industry. For workplace health management to be effective, knowledge, experience, and practice need to be grouped into three branches: occupational health, workplace health promotion, and environmental health. The Luxembourg Declaration of the European Union Network for Workplace Health Promotion defines WHP as a concerted effort by employers, employees, and society to improve human health and well-being in the workplace.

This can be achieved through a combination of:

Improving the work organization and work environment
Promote the active participation of employees in health activities
Encourage personal development
The EU Network Luxembourg Declaration sees workplace health promotion as a modern corporate strategy aimed at preventing illness in the workplace and improving health in the workforce and improving well-being.
